Only Nazis had paramilitary wings to their political party

FALSE:

All political parties in the Weimar Republic had some version of a paramilitary wing. Politics in 1920s Germany was a blood sport, often literally. The Nazi party and the communist party had the most altercations, and the Nazi party had the most disciplined paramilitary group.

Hitler was elected

FALSE:

Hitler was the leader of the Nazi party. The Nazi party only got 33% of the national vote, with the majority coming from the area of Bavaria. The Wiemer Republic required its legislative body (the Reichstag) to have the percentage of legislatures equal to that of the vote so that the Reichstag had 33% Nazis. The party with the majority, albeit a very small one, chose to create a coalition with the Nazis to gain control of the Reichstag, In doing so they appointed Hitler Chancellor (second in command) equivalent to a Vice President.
